desert eagle .50 or 44mag

you can purchase dies etc. for the 50ae. from anyone that sells reloading equipment.
brass and bullets are not hard to come by. either caliber will give you lots of shooting fun, they are fun guns to shoot and to feed. { i have a 50 and it kicks major butt}
cheers

I was in the same situation as you several years ago... 50 or 44... I roll my own, but also buy commercial stuff when I feel lazy... for that reason alone, I bought the 44... It loads for cheaper, with supplies being very available along with a plethora of load data... and I can even stop by the local Canadian Tire in a pinch and grab a box of factory 240 grain ammo anytime I feel lazy...

Do what I did last month and buy a .50 Mark XIX and the .44 conversion barrel and magazines.

All the fun and awesome of .50 with the ability to shoot cheaper .44.

FYI, the latest batch of factory I bought came to 50 cents a shot for the .44 magnum, but almost $3.00 a shot for .50.

There may be some cheaper stuff out there, but the .50 is a bit cost prohibitive if you dont plan on reloading.

Which Canadian Tire in Ottawa sells handgun ammo?

Ever shoot one? Biggest friggin' pistol I ever touched. Way too big for my hand. If you haven't handled one, do so before you buy.

If you are gonna go big , GO BIG ... 50AE
I tried a .44 once, big beast, owner told me he had to reload very hot to get it cycle and I was also chewing up the brass on ejection a little. Apparently is did not cycle very well on factory ammo.
I hope you are a big boy because I am not, and this was the most uncomfortable pistol I ever tired. I wish I had bigger hands This pistol is sure the most badass out there

Enjoy the Big boys gun

New brass in Canada right now is stupidly expensive... go .44Magnum, buy the ammo retail, then keep the brass to reload with :)

~Cheers

if i were to blow some cash on one... i'd do the 44 or maybe 357. would suck to blow $2k or so on the gun, and then another $3 on each trigger pull. at least with 357 or 44 you could share ammo with a revolver (as long as it's jacketed).

ill chime in here (and im sure Mercury will be right behind me) on being a 50ae DE owner...

its awesome!!! totally a flash-pimp-wtf is that?-OMG thats huge-is that for real? GUN!!! if you're looking for a lot of bang for a lot of buck...this pistol is for you. its by no means an everyday shooter, but that pistol you take out on special occasions to show off to your buddies, let them try a couple rounds, and watch the fireballs launch out of the muzzle.

id compare it to a ferrari or lamborghini in this context...because its one of those ones that everyone is drawn to simply for the fact that its a 50cal handgun. no one ever needs one, and there are a lot more reliable pistols out there...but its one of those guns that makes a big splash when it does come out

here are some pics of mine...bought it as a grad gift to myself when i finished university last year. Its in titanium gold.

I don't think I could ever own anything that shiny, and keep it shiny. It'd be scratched and dinged up in a week, regardless of price. ('Things are meant to be used' philosophy, y'see.)
