Desert Eagle: Details Needed

Well you tell me, 2 glocks G37, G22 purchased new and a mint condition stainless Super Blackhawk for about the same price of a new DE. I think I got some quality there with a little bit of quantity.:D

Apples to Oranges, Glock is a fine gun. But it sure doesnt fire a .44 mag ! And the revolver, well is a revolver. This is about auto's. A used DE is about
$ 1000.00 anyways. :D

got my DE 44mag. for about 6 mon. now, been shooting every weekends and love every minute of shooting it. mine is a polish chrome color, gun is very accurate, recoil is not hard to control, paid $2200 . happy with it/good deal.

I have a polished (bling) DE XIX in .44 mag. I choose the .44 over the 50 for one reason and one reason only..... cost. I shoot the #### outta my DE and I love it. I think of the DE as a supermodel, its big and flashy, its unpractical, ts untacticool, its high maintainance, its plain stupid.... and when people see it they want to put their hands all over it! But its a blast to shoot (no pun intended). If your looking for something fun to shoot with lots of bang, and want that hollywood cool factor DE is the way to go. If your looking for something for home defense or comp shooting or whatever then DE is not the way to go.

I've had mine since 2000 and I've easily got 6000 round through mine and I finally changed the recoil springs last spring. I mine was starting to have problems with stovepiping and FTEs but a new mag and recoil springs fixed the problem. Shes pretty picky when it comes to ammo too, before the spring changes it wouldn't shoot high powered loads, now anything goes. The only problem I found now is I need to replace the spring thats behind or attached to the firing pin. When the hammer hits it it goes in so far that a plate falls out and I dont want to lose it. Oh ya and the safety screw can sometimes back out after a 100 rounds or so. Otherwise shes been great but its time for a lil TLC and maintenance.

Well you have point with the Ruger, I guess if a DE was an apple the Ruger could be an orange??
But as far as the glocks are concerned, they are semi-autos and in the world of fruit they are apples as well. After all there are hundreds of varieties of apples in the world!
But if anyone comes across a used DE for a $1000, don't post it here just jump on it! Then post it here!! :D

I had supervisor that carried 44 mag in the bush. he said he had a hard time finding factory ammo that wouldn't jam. Not enough power to recock firing pin. and you deffently can't limp wrist it!!!! or it will jam.

If you buy a used one, check out the gas piston beforehand; SOME people don't bother to RTFM, so they reassemble it improperly, and end up with a bent piston (the smaller-diameter extension that's supposed to engage the mainspring assembly), or a squashed mainspring assembly, or both. It's happened often enough that in the newest versions, they redesigned the piston and pinned it permanently to the slide assembly.

Why does your .44 say .50 on it?

im not entirely sure but I suspect its because its a XIX model which means you can shoot various calibers .357 with a new bolt, barrel, and mag. Or .44 or .50 with a new barrel and mag, bolt is the same. alway look at the end of the barrel to see what caliber it is... why they have 50 on the slide is beyond me.

I reload .50AE for about $0.60 each (speer 4490 TMJ, AA#9, reuse the brass as long as possible). Still pricey, but a lot less than the $2.50 the local stores want for it.

You simply can't beat it for flamage.

Even the empty brass casings are huge and uber-cool! :D

I have owned a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle, I really liked it (got it for $800 used) but if I bought another it would be in .50 just so I could know that it was the BIGGEST ONE AVAILABLE!

Big, heavy, not to practical, but LOTS of FUN! I load full charge .44 magnum loads with WW-296 powder.......Lots of muzzel flash, which I like for fun shooting.......and the DE recoil impulse is VERY PLEASANT compared to my S&W M29.

hahaha thats an interesting question.... i suppose you'd have to register all 3?

If you buy a multi-caliber set, your slip should say "frame or receiver only" without a caliber. If you have one registered the regular way and buy a different caliber barrel, you should be able to get the same thing through a verifier (mine was registered without caliber) if any are still around.

^ Thats the nice thing about the XIX. All you have to do is buy the 50AE barrel, magazine and ammo and your good to go. Just store as registered - ie if registered as 50AE, store only with the 50AE barrel. Otherwise it may be a good idea to register as multi caliber. Receiver only registration would not fly if an inspector found the barrel attached to the receiver. Permanent changes must be reported to CFC within 30 days.

If buying an Eagle, get the 50cal, no point i getting anything smaller. I have the 50cal and it's easy to shoot, I buy my ammo in bulk 1000rd case at a time to save on cost.
