Not a big fan of the Desert Eagle. I always groan watching action movies/TV when the bad guys always seem to carry a pimped out version as their "concealed carry" piece.
They're big, their heavy, they aren't that reliable, it often takes multiple trips to a good pistolsmith to get them running well, the triggers are crappy and generally they're overpriced for what you get.
I've shot just about all the models, about the only one I would consider would be the .357 Magnum...that one seemed to be the most reliable, with the .44 Magnum second.
I've got big hands, so the grip was comfortable for me and I didn't limp wrist them (which is the root cause of many jams) but still the pistol wasn't really a "fun" experience.
Don't mean to crap on your new toy, I hope you'll be very happy with it...and when all is said and done you're the only one you have to please right; so you can tell the rest of us naysayers to go get stuffed!
That said, if you don't already do so, get set up for reloading, pick yourself up a good bullet mould and buy a casting outfit and save all your brass! The US State Dept. has got all .50 cal stuff on the no-no export list, and unfortunately, .50AE stuff has been swept up in the .50BMG net! Stupid I know, but it doesn't have to make sense, it is government policy! The .50 is an expensive toy to feed, assuming you can find commercial ammo to buy for it. I know I haven't seen any in my local gun shops in a couple of years. Don't know what the ammo situation is on the mainland though. Have fun with the new present, sell it when you get sick of it and then go get yourself a good 1911 in .45ACP!
