Looks like you had a good time - definetly give me a call when you head out to the range after the holidays! Pavehammer looks a little too happy in that pic - did you have a hard time getting him to give you the gun back????

haha, a very tough time...

we had his fancy new SLR camera out and took about 500 photos (hoping to catch a fireball shot) but during that pic there, ull notice the safety was on so going through the sequential photos of that round (say 20 photos) u can see the finger move onto the trigger, him brace himself a bit for the recoil, and then as he pulls the trigger (and nothing happens>safety on) he dips the gun HUGE in one of the best flinches ive ever seen! we had a good laugh over that

not reliable? needs multiple trips to a smith? trigger sucks?
bulls**t plain and simple. grip it like you mean, shoot proper ammo through it, not downloaded handloads, lube it, and read the manual so you can learn to adjust the trigger to what you like.

Thankyou, you beat me to it.
I have 3 DEs in 44, never had 1 fail. You will get them to stovepipe if you limp wrist them, but that is not a gun problem , that is a shooter problem.
Load them with the same loads as a Contender and they function flawlessly.

The only trouble I had with mine was the slide occasionally not returning to battery. This only occurred with the first few magazines, and only four times ever. This was due to not enough lubrication. The only guns I had used previously were Glocks, and of course, they require very little lube. As soon as I lubed the DE properly it started working flawlessly.

Thanks fellas. I ordered mine in Titanium Gold in .357. Should be here in less than 2 weeks. The Ferrari analogy was quite appropriate. It's an expensive performance toy like my motorcycle. Who needs a street bike with almost 300 HP? Just for ####s and giggles thats all.

Could one shoot .38spl in a .357magnum? (I realize the slide would not cycle though and have to be done manually.)

The head of the bullet would not be sitting in the right spot in the chamber. This would be a bad thing. It would "probably" work I think, but it's a VERY bad thing to do. Just like a .40cal round can sometimes be fired from a 10mm gun. It has been done before and the bullet did fire and travel down the barrel but it's extremely bad news to be doing it. Sometimes it won't work because the case is not in the right spot for the striker to make contact. This is of course setting aside the point you already made about the slide not working. It's an interesting question to think about as a THEORY but that's it.

Right... I was in revolver mode :) I remember thinking about it for a 10mm / .40S&W and some people have done it but not recommended. Damn.

I know nothing about the DE but the comparison between .38/.357 and .40/10 is moot because the former headspaces with the rim and the latter on the mouth of the case. Obviously, you can't fire a .40 in a 10mm semi-auto (though you can shoot'em clipped in a revolver), but the same doesn't apply for revolver cartridges. I suppose rimmed cartridges (.357, .44) still headspace on the rim even in semi-autos? If that's true then, accuracy questions aside, you should be able to fire .38s in DEs.

Good for you! :) I bet you'll really enjoy it.

I have a black model in .44mag. Great fun too shoot!

The tiggers are not "match" grade but they wear in well and get smoother with use. They are fully adjustable as well.

Yes they are pricey but the smile it puts on your face (or anyone elser who tries it) is well worth it.

Mine cycles great ... full power loads of course! The cycling issue experienced by the earlier models was attributed to the mags. The issue, from what I have read, is no longer prevalent with better srpings and followers in the later model magazines.

Yeah they're heavy... and big. But an average guy can handle it no problem at all. I only have "average" sized hands and while it is a real handful it is not uncomfortable nor do I find my fingers too stretched or anything like that.

Lastly, get it, enjoy it and shoot the f*ck out of stuff with it!!!. You'll always leave the range grinning!

Regards,
