Desert Eagle Purchase...

Well ladies....its here!

just picked up my brand new Titanium Gold Desert Eagle in 50AE! not only is this gonna be an amazing christmas present, but also the grad gift that i promised myself when i graduate RMC in 160 days!

Pics will be posted in the next few days.

taking it out on monday to pop the cherry (mine and its)...little nervous to be honest, but know its gonna be a blast and kick everyone's ass at the range!

Part of the elite club now eh Merc? hahaha!

Dude, that's Wicked! :dancingbanana:I can't wait for the pics.

I've managed to modify my IPSC holster to fit it. I'm gonna have to do a match with it next year. hehe. It has an IPSC power factor of 458.4:eek: Minor is 125, Major is 170.

Here's a quick pic of the holster, and a vid of some huge flamage. Those are reloads with 30grains of H110 behind a 350grain TMJ bullet. They are traveling at 1385fps.:runaway:

great vid man, and id love to see a id of u shooting just a stage with that (cuz lets me honest, we wouldnt be carrying 5-6+ mags at $115/each) at least i wont be!

im gonna be using H110 with 325grJHPs, i just need to get a line on some brass for it. i figure id need 1-200 pieces for now...and got 10 factory rounds with the gun. know anyone?

also, whats the brass life on reloading 50AE? id probably be loading 29-30gr of it

I've reloaded the original factory rounds that I bought only once so far. They are nickel and I haven't found any signs of deterioration yet. It's still early though.:runaway: I just ordered 500 cases from http://www.doubletapsports.com/catalog/26/starline_brass?page=3 . I haven't received them yet and it's taken over a month so far. I think they had to special order them from the States and that's why it's taking so long. It's not like they would have had 'em in stock.
I picked up a few extra mags for a total of 5 so I'm good to go for an IPSC match.

Hey guys,

so ive decided im gonna be generous and give myself a .50AE Titanium Gold Desert Eagle as a gift for my graduation from RMC. Im wondering if theres anyone in canada that has these in stock, or will likely have them in stock by march or early april of 2009 (i graduate may '09). And if not, how long does Questar usually take to import? (cuz id have to arrange all that much earlier in '09 if i want it by grad) does anyone know anything?

Cheers

buy what you want! eagle= :dancingbanana:

The novelty of shooting it wore off after about 5 rounds for me.

Big, ugly, crap ergonomics, and didn't seem to feed very reliably. Very accurate though. More of a "tell your friends you own one" kinda gun than anything else...

I've got somewhere around 2000 brass for mine. all loaded multiple muptiple times. I've replaced the springs once, and that was just recently. I run hot loads as well. the only issues I've had are when I've let it get so much carbon build up on it that it's hard to open and wouldn't cycle very good. poured some oil on it, and ran fine. got home cleaned it (for the first time in a few thousand rounds), lubed it, and back she went, purring like a kitten.
amazing accurate. I too want to shoot mine at an IPSC match. But I want to put a mini Aimpoint on it so I can shoot Open. Maybe Mercury and I should team up for a match?

just took mine out today...FUN GUN!

i did have one problem however if the owners here could weigh in:

the slide doesnt lock open after the magazine is empty. Ive tried putting an empty mag in as well and racking the slide, and unless i do it violently the slide catch wont engage and if it does, its hanging on by a thread and any type of movement will drop the slide on its own. THe only way i can get the slide to stay open on an empty mag is if i push the bottom of the mag up into the gun then rack it.

I figure theres an issue with a spring somewhere, either in the mag or the slide-catch spring is too tight. any thoughts?
