Desert Tech MDR Response

I really want the MDR to be successful but I have to say it’s a rocky start with this rifle. I’ve kept my presale spot but only because I figure it will be a while before we get them and hopefully by then everything will be as it should be. Closer to the delivery date here in Canada I will be re evaluating. If the Canadian guns were being delivered right away, I would likely cancel.

The announcement and working on it right away is a decent sign. But I’m still suspect!!

He would be more convincing if he actually showed video footage of him shooting the MDR with the different ammo he mentions and experiencing no stoppages. A bunch of "tech" talk with graphs and charts does not refute the video footage of several independent testers of this rifle performing poorly. Am I supposed to feel sorry that he had to work on his problems on Christmas eve? Not really a good response in my opinion.

How much did the pre sale spot cost you.

Due to lack of time today to research the issue, would someone kindly summarize the issues with the MDR?

Jams... many many, MANY jams, usually related to the overly complicated ejection port/ejection phase. It's been repeated by other shooters like Garand Thumb so it's not a fabricated issue, it's a legit one. While the guy in the video has an EXTREMELY dry presentation, he is saying the right things. Hopefully the MDR can be a success.

Biggest thing is the jamming and poor reliability. Recoil is harsh and the new updated gas blocks have changed the old adverse and made it the new normal. The polymer has been cracking and magazines not being retained. Accuracy is so so. Long delays as well.

I haven't given up my preorder spot either. There are also lots of people who haven't had much issues. I don't know if I'll roll the dice and hope for a good one?

Pathetic in my opinion considering the price of the gun, and all the hype that surrounded it. The CEOs excuses were also pathetic. "We problem solved it on Christmas eve" "we didnt test surplus ammo cause it's hard to find" ?!

This is one of the few perks of being the little fish - usually by the time a gun makes it through the lab some of the bugs are worked out. Would I prefer the rifle was running like a top right out of the gate? Definitely. However in the meantime I'm happy to let the early adopters in the US do the beta testing.
I'm hopeful that like the XCR (which had initial issues too) it'll evolve into a solid, reliable platform by the time units start shipping north of the border.
