Desert Tech SRS Owners - advice needed - SRS A1 or Covert?

Welcome As long as you promise to sell all the others to buy a SRS.

Any idea on price of TT's . Last I saw whey were north of $6k, in the SRS price range.
I hope I'm allowed to post despite my lack of SRS ownership......

I think NordicMarksman has TT's in stock....

Go with the A1, you wont regret it. IMHO

So does coretac, I rather support coretac before NM... thats just me.

6153$ is the price now, and about 2k MORE than I paid, without tax or shipping (which I didn't pay either, private sale ftw).

Hi, just saw this post, and if your questions were answered already, please disregard my post.
I have the full length SRS and while the Covert is very cool and impossibly short, unless you are planning to run and gun, PRS matches, etc with it, then my vote would be the full length version for a couple of reasons.
One, the bipod placement will be more stable the farther away it is from the centre of gravity of the rifle, and two, if you are planning to run those pricey optics on it, you are putting them at risk by having a short hand guard with short barrels on it and subjecting them to muzzle blast.
As far as optics, all above mentioned are fantastic, just depends on what you plan to do with yours? I am basically just a long range steel shooter and load development at the range guy, no comps, so super clear glass and high mag are what was on my list. I decided to go with the Zeiss 4.8-35 V8 scope, and it has the best glass I've ever looked thru. I also have S&Bs and a buddy shoots the TT, they are awesome too, but the price tag is crazy on those. If you are going to hunt, do comps and such though, the Zeiss is not the best as it has limited reticle choices and a smaller amount of internal elevation and weaker turrets then the TT and Schmidts. But the glass clarity and eye relief and eye box are unmatched in my opinion. Plus save 2K on it compared to the TT.(Can't go wrong with any of those optics).
As for mounts, be aware the SRS has no built in MOA rail, so you definitely may need an MOA mount to get you out to really long distances. I hear the SPUHR stuff is fantastic but never played with one. I have bought 2 of the ERA adjustable MOA mounts for my rifles, and they are fantastic. Super well built and 30 second MOA adjustments from 0 to 70 MOA of elevation with out changing anything on the scope, very very cool.
can't go wrong with either DTA though, they are highly addictive and so accurate. Cheers.

Just saw your post at "Barrett MRAD VS DTA SRS?", very informative.

+1 on A1 is already short compared to anything else conventional (AI, PGW, TRG). Had a sunshade over the muzzle of an AR, not very nice.

Like you I'm into long range and load development range guy, wish the back could handle PRS and comps so super clear glass is preferred. Need to take a look at Zeiss, no many good choice.

The ERA adj. mount looks interesting, any good local retailers?

I got my Zeiss and the mount from Omer, at Plainsight Solutions, one of the supporting dealers here on CGN. He has the TT, Nightforce, Schmidts, Swaro, etc....has everything and is a shooter too. I highly recommend him! I actually bought my DTA thru him and 4 different scopes, plus a bunch of other stuff from him over the years and he is a total pleasure to deal with and very knowledgable. Prices can't be beat either.
If you want an opinion on a scope from a dealer who has actually used and shot and looked thru everything, he's your man, definitely worth a phone call. He is also a personal DTA owner as well.
I actually have a scope on order coming in from him next week, the new Nightforce 7-35 ATACR in FFP. Should be a very cool scope and really liked the glass and feel of my old 5-25 ATACR, so jump at this new model just announced last month.

Thanks A! From dealing with you on the EE, I know you know your precision rifle stuff! The S&B I bought from you is what will likely live on the SRS when the time comes...

Haha, that's funny. I have sold so many scopes and stuff, I can't remember who all I've dealt with.
Very happy to hear you are happy with the S&B and it's a great choice for long distance stuff for sure!
I am always wanting to try all the latest and greatest gear when it comes out, and am always trading my last years stuff for next years lol.
I think I sold a Nightforce Competition to Gunnegogo whose on this thread too? Lol.

You sure did Boss.....and I'm happy to take any 2016 gear you may wish you unload in 2017!!!.....although, the ATACR 7-35 F1 is mighty tempting.....

Lol, it's like an old boys club meeting now on this thread!
And I am actually thinking of selling one of my two Zeiss scopes. They are both identical, 4.8-35 Victory V8s in adjustable MOA 36mm mounts. A pricey package but a truly amazing scope. Best glass and clarity I've ever looked thru!
Absolutely keeping the one that is on my SRS as it's all zeroed and set up for all my different calibers, but I've only had the other one used just once on my AI AX308MC, which is also currently up for sale on the EE, and that scope is just sitting on a shelf in my gun room, in 100% new condition in its ERA mount.
If your interested, let me know. Cheers.

I have owned a sphur mount and I currently am using the DT mount on my srs. They are both built like tanks and neither is a bad choice. I sold the sphur when I sold the scope it was on and I got the DT with the rifle. I went with a 40moa and it's perfect, I only lose about 2 mils of adjustment on the bottom. The other advantage of the DT mount is that it is set up to be torqued the same as the conversion kits so removal of the optic if I need is easy as I generally have the tool with me. Both have built in levels.
I am 100% confident in both.
