Desperate to find a military crimp remover

What ashly said... I bought a $ 35 RCBS Primer Pocket Swager from Wholesale Sports several years ago and never looked back. Works really well for both large and small primer pockets, so I prep the IVI brass (found at gun shows ;) ) ... both 7.62mm and 5.56mm. Good to go!

I used the RCBS case chamfering tool on my PMC ammo and it worked fine.......Harold

I have both the military crimp remover and the chamfering tool (old style - not the VLD type) on my RCBS prep centre - when I get impatient with a tough crimp, I'll sometimes give it a touch of the chamfering tool. Removes a bit more metal, but the pockets are still good ... especially if you ream them out next. It's about the same angle as the reamer, but lets you cut in deeper and faster (better cutting edge without the stop until you hit the bottom of the primer pocket).

Yeah ... early into reloading I tried forcing primers into pockets that still had the crimp. Darn ugly looking - squashed and inconsistent depth - and then you get real cautious about slam fires. When I finally set a primer off while trying to seat it (in the press), I found that I never ever wanted to do that again - makes sense to just put some more efforts into uniform pockets.
