Hi all~

Good grief, I've never seen it this bad! Is EVERYONE out of powder?

Guys, I seriously need a couple pounds of VV N560...does anyone have a few pounds to spare? If so, please let me know!

In the meantime, shoot straight, and good luck with your hunting season!

The current powder and component shortage has been going on in the US since early 2013 and in Canada since mid 2013. Hunting season will cause a mini shortage but when things are already so bad it can be the straw the breaks the camels back so to say.
 
Hi. Somebody said(forget exactly where. U.S. forum I think) Vihtavuori has been sold by Lapua last Feb. May not be shipping. Not absolutely sure, of course. Nobody tells me anything.
N560 is slow stuff. Closest IMR powder is IMR7828. Assuming you can find that, it's 2 places slower on the burn rate charts than the 560.
 
Don't give me EXCUSES! One of you bought the entire supply and are hoarding it for yourself!!! I just know it!!!!

Oh boy. Fellas, it is so bad out there that even a temper tantrum won't work! If one of you hears something please send me a PM? It is for a buddy who bought a gun in one of those proprietary calibers and the big rifle is very picky about what it likes to eat. I learned long ago to go with common calibers and stock up when components were available...but that is a lesson that new guys entering the sport seem to need to learn for themselves.

I also think CRAFM (site sponsor above) might have VV; at least they did a few weeks ago. Can't hurt to ask I suppose
 
Wrote to Alliant a couple of weeks ago. Their answer was: There is a shortage in the US as well. We expect the situation to improve soon as firearm sales have taken a nose dive. We are also starting to see ammunition supplies improving with our distributors, where before the shelves were literally bare. The components problem is also starting to improve IE: bullets, brass, and primers. Just hang in there it should not be too much longer before powder becomes more commonly available. I am also a reloader and I work for Alliant and I cant get any powder either.
 
I scored half a pound of Alliant 2400 in the old cardboard canister at a gun show last weekend for 10bux

I felt I got the best deal/find of anyone that day.
 
Tried to find press release and now not sure if it is Nammo group or Nammo Lapua. Doesn't matter as Lapua still does distribution.

You dawg!....lol I have been looking for some 2400 ever since I got a mold for my 7.62x39... At least I have a good stock of Goex, so I can keep blowing smoke around... Actually fed the ol SKS five cases full of FFF just cuz and wouldn't u know...ate em like candy!... ! stupid rifles run on anything
 
For at least the past year I have been buying whatever I can find that is close to what I normaly shoot, powder, bullets (what ever) sucks to have to start all over with load development (and usually higher priced components) so often but I just think of it as a learning experience!!!

Lol awesome. I was going to ask, since 2400 is too fast for any semi rifle I've tried it in, but if it runs on coal, well....

How about reloader 7? That's my go to cast bullet rifle powder in near anything, including the M-305. Or something like Lil'Gun? I use that for 300AAC in the AR
