I have a rem 700p and would like to know where in my area could I get a good detachable mag kit for it at a good price?
Also looking for a good gunsmith for cutting the barrel at 20" and installing a muzzle break.

In the eastern Ontario or the Montreal area.

Thank you for your help

What is a good price?

There are the tactical variety of DM kits. VBull, ATRS, Badger to name a few, but all aren't cheap (but you do get what you pay for)

Other option would be to canibalise a regular DM bottom metal from another Rem700, which may be found on the EE.

I think it should.

If the parts are drop in, you could probably order a vbull or Badger bottom metal for your price range. Those are supposed to be drop in replacements for 700 bottom metal so I doubt you would really need a gunsmith to install it

A regular BDL DM bottom metal will not work properly in a BDL hinge floorplate/ADL action. The receiver is cut wider on the DM series to allow the magazine to fit in. You will see misfeeds on round 2-3 with a BDL DM stuck into a ADL/BDL action.

My choice would be sell your 700 & buy one with the DM. That seems to be the safest and cost effective way to your end result.

sergion makes a nice one. be careful when u hear the words DROP IN. i know a few guys that had to modify there stocks to get the badger's to fit.

Badger and Vbull need to be inletted, they are not drop in. ATRS I imagine are the same. The HS ones need a little less work and are doable with a dremel. The HS are overpriced IMO and you might as well get a Badger, VBull, ATRS which all use an AI mag system. The most cost effective ones are the kwik klip, again, needs a little inletting.

We can install this with one magazine for $450. Cut and crown with our side port tac brake is $300.

Who makes that beautiful looking unit for $ 450 including one magazine? Who makes the magazine (also)? Wow... great looking ! :D

Cheers,

dm system

Check out CDI precision gun works...$209 for his conversions and $80 for the 10 round AI mags to go in them, $75 for 5 rounders. $60 for CNC stock inletting if you don't mind sending your stock across the border.
He makes a system for both short savages (4.275 and 4.4), rem short, Howa short, Winchester, short long and magnum, and FN.
I bought one for the 4.275 savage but haven't had time to install it yet.
I have a couple of small quibbles but the machining (casting I think) is excellent. Mag fit is good.

Any pics of it installed? How much are additional magazines? What is the magazine capacity? Where abouts in the country would a rifle be shipped to for install?

It is the same setup we use in our COYOTE and TIMBERWOLF rifles. We are in Winnipeg. There are pics online at www.pgwdti.com although they show our rifles with them and not 700's.

We have put lots of them in 700's. Mag capacity is 8 308 and 5 338.
