Detachable mags interchangable for 760 & 740 models?????

Hey guys,

I have a 740 in 30-06, and a 760 in 270. Will the mags work in each other or no??

I've heard one will work with the other but not vice versa. Is this info correct or was I fed a line of sh!t?

MS,

I just received the 740 and havent shot it yet. I had just heard that one clip will work in both, but not sure.
Leaving on Sat for hunt camp and want my bases covered.
 
If each mag will fit with no modifications, they should function.
The 740 magazine will have a "last shot hold open" feature and a bolt release on the left side of the mag, the 760 magazine does not have this feature.
 
I have an aftermarket Eagle mag that fits the Rem pump short action and it will also fit and function in the 742 s/a short action. If that info helps you. I can't tell you anything more about that, I'm taking the 5th on that subject!:p

Edit: I'd like to change "I have" to "once upon a time I had".;)

Hey thanks guys,

So my 270 clip will be ok for the 30-06 round? It will just be for back up in case something goes wrong.
I'm relatively new to hunting, and don't wanna make the Darwin Awards.

I appreciate you fellas taking the time to help a guy out.

I was sighting it in last night, and apperently I had my gloved hand over the exhaust port???????? I'll call it on the forarm, well needless to say I now need a new left glove. Burnt holes in it...............is this common?? Gun is an older model, like late 50's.
