I heard the detach mags on the Savage rifles are a little buggy? anybody know what's up?

Any hints or fixes for them or do they need breakin' in?

Thanks in advance.

It's not that there is anything wrong with them, it's the fact that they are easily inserted and latched incorrectly. Proper insertion of the magazine requires both care and attention. Rear first, (the rear) fully inserted, then rotate (the front) into the well until it latches. Whether you're in a hurry, in the dark, wearing gloves, out of practice, or just unfamiliar with them, they need to be inserted correctly.

If, for example, the rear wasn't fully inserted the magazine might latch into place but still be sitting too low to feed.

Yah. It's not like they are finnicky or anything, you just have to pay attention when inserting it. It's still alot nicer than paying attention to each shell each time you get outta the truck. The mags are long too and the action feeds them, I think my .300 win mag takes 3.512 oal, but my 180gr sst's are 3.495. One ####ty thing I find though is the shell "pops" up and out too quick and I have to stop feeding the shell in, let it fall back into place then continue chambering. This happens even at DEAD slow feeding. I haven't bothered messing with the mag yet, I'll figure it out when I get around to it.
