Detailed account of the Jeff Foiles case.

Good read.

I would have liked to see a longer hunting prohibition.

There were many, many violations that he got away with and never came to light.

Its actually quite a common practice...watch any duck commander video and you will see it as well. I prefer to snap the neck, but to each their own.

i can honestly say i don't know anyone that bites the head of a wounded bird!!!

wring their neck, break their neck, step on their head, wack them on the head. there are a million not messed up ways to do it..

I've hunted ducks for 43 seasons over 6 states and 2 provinces and have never seen anyone finish off a duck by biting the ducks heads. There are better ways to do it like fish e o mentions.

I've bitten their heads. When you are on unstable footing and holding a gun and working a dog sometimes it is the fastest method available. And it works better than whacking stomping or wringing. I personally hate it when people do the windmill death spin to wring a neck.

I agree nothing wrong with biting the head, didn't read the article and I'm sure the rest is messed up but giving them a bite is not uncommon or weird. Sometimes when your hands are full and there's nowhere good to put your gun down it's the best way.

Looks like Foiles started to believe his own hype and thought he really was a outlaw rockstar. Sure would be nice if he had to serve his time in the general lock-up of a medium or maximum security prison. He'd get to meet first hand some real stone cold killa's...

I'd be curious to actually meet the guy an get his side of the story. But if he breaks bag limits he's for sure a moron an deserves to get punished. ESPECIALLY when he comes to Canada and poaches our birds. Still though, it's a slap on the wrist considering what the guy likely earned from the videos, calls, and guiding tours.

Several guys on the AO forum have met him and classify him as first class doucheness. He apparently tried to tell one member that he couldn't shoot a field that Jeff had a shoot lined up on. Problem was Jeff didn't have permission and the member was the guy who OWNED the field.

I feel the story is balanced. Sounds like a regular dude that let fame gone to his head. No different than any other hollywood celeb melt down.

unfortunately they really aren't OUR birds. Being part of the Migratory Bird Act, they are a resource managed by several countries. Granted he was hunting in Canada so is stings a bit more to know a foreigner committed an injustice here. But like others have said, us Canadians aren't perfect either.:canadaFlag:

Would love to see the look on Foiles' face when that last part was explained if this is true.

Good story. It fills in the gaps and confirms some the talk I heard out west. Hopefully this serves as a wake up call to the "Strait Meat Crew" who treat every hunt as a slaughter and think it's all about numbers and bands.
