detatchable magazine dilemma... i found it in a tree

I knew a guy who found a complete rifle leaning against a tree way back in the bush on northern Vancouver Island. As I recall, it was a Tikka M65 30-06. Judging by the amount of rust pitting on the exterior, it had been there for quite awhile. However the bore and chamber must have been well-oiled because they were fine. It was complete with bolt.

I have most of my rifles converted to aics mags. The Mauser, Sako, Tikka, Howa and Rem 700 all use the same magazine. Have several aics mags from 3 shot up to 10 shot.
So far after 15 years I lost one magazine. Mag release lever was too long, use a different design in the meantime or cut down lever.

Now that this has happened to you WL it will probably never happen again. I've had an A-bolt for 31 years. I almost lost my mag once, it fell out of my pocket when I was on my trail bike, I doubled back and found it on the forest service road, I got lucky. I haven't lost it since.

30-40. Works excellent where I'm at. I'd say 300 yds is about my personal limit... just my rules, nothing else.
I swear, it fits me better than any other rifle. LOP is prefect, it's in marvelous shape...based on the stock, it's never been used. The pores in the wood are totally open...not a bit of oil from a hand carrying it

tokguy & rob, what make/models are these rifles?

Mine is a Springfield made 30-40 Krag-jorgensen... probably 'one of' the faster smoother bolt actions ever made. But not the strongest. Single locking lug bolt action...although in reality the handle is a secondary locking device.
Women love them in that they are so easy to load and unload. Literally open the loading door and just drop the shells in...bolt can remain closed...empties the same way.

Beautiful and interesting rifles!
