Determining power factor without a chrono?

You're always going to get people running around 126 but I run 130-132 And its not much more recoil to deal with.
Saw a guy at almost 160 once in production...

So what's the most popular PF for 9mm
I load to 133 - I chrono thru a Comp Electronics Chrono. Chrono'ed 132 at ON Provincials (Another Competition Electronics) and Summer Fun (Shooting Chronys), but 127 at the nationals. (CED Chrono and the elevation is higher there, which should have given me more speed)
Always have that minimum 5 PF safety zone - it would suck to shoot a whole match and not score because you were a little light on powder.

As a chronographer for many major IDPA matches, you NEED to chrono through your own gun. For minor I've always recommended 133-135 PF and major 172.

As Sean said, in a nutshell, don't play close to the line, it will bite.

Humidity will slow a bullet a lot. A shooter in the US passed chrono 2 weeks earlier, came to a major match using the same ammo, and run 162.5 instead of 165.

My personal ammo runs 137 for minor and 177 for major.

Here are the numbers from when I chrono'd my ammo (about a year ago):

Bullet: 9mm 124gr CamPro FMJHP
Powder: Titegroup
Primers: CCI Small Pistol
Brass: Range pick-up

4.1gr Titegroup (10 round sample)
AVG MV: 1090.9 FPS
PF: 128.5

4.2gr Titegroup (10 round sample)
AVG MV: 1104.1 FPS
PF: 136.4

Keep in mind, these are through my gun (CZ SP-01 Shadow). Your results will be different but this might give a rough idea of what to expect.

Based on my numbers from testing, I extrapolated and estimate that the following should be close for my Shadow:

gr Titegroup
Projected PF
4.0
133.1
3.9
131.5
3.8
129.9
3.7
128.3

As a side note, 4.0gr Titegroup proved to be the most accurate load for my gun. I did not go back and verify the actual PF for 4.0gr to confirm the PF.

Damn, I think my Chrony was out to lunch when I checked one of my loads. I was loading 4.0gr of TG behind a 124gr pill and was getting 130PF. For my BB, I used up my stash of X-Metal pills with 3.6gr TG. They were pretty soft shooting. If they make 142 PF out of my Shadow2, I'm in Heaven.

could be a chrono issue, or temp issue. We chronoed over the CED M2 and Beta Chrony...they were within 3 fps of each other (we shot over them in tandem..lol) but it was a warm day (29c) and the ammo was in the shade, but still warm COAL was SAAMI and a little bit of crimp on the cases... probably more than stock crimp. CCI small mag rifle primers.
