Deutsches Panzermuseum Munster Germany

As stated it was interesting to see the size difference between the Tiger and the Panther. Panther seemed a lot more imposing. Then to see the Tiger II that was something else. For that that asked here is a pic of the A7V

One of my relatives fought the Commies in Russia in a Panzer IV Ausf.G and then a Jagdpanzer IV/70 (V). Numerous T-34 kills and a few KV-1's as a gunner.
try owning a slant 6, "check the gas and fill the oil please!"

the short barreled jpnz 4s are neat, with the panther gun those would have been one of the best tank destroyers of the war

the early pnz4G is also cool

I know. If the germans had simplified the engineering and been more on the ball with ramping up war production WW2 could have gone on much longer in Europe.

typical for the germans: overengineering and perfectionism. While not only these attitude lost them the war, they sure helped.

And so far they have learned nothing, when you have a look at their latest projects like the G28 or their new APC.

This past January I spent an entire day there all alone. Walked back and forth through out that facility taking hundreds of pictures with my SLR. Man I couldn't get over the precise cataloging of each item in the museum. Everything had bar codes on them including individual items on each piece of equipment. Very impressed by the uniforms and personal belongings to the solders.

Here is the star of the museum.

I talked at length with one of the employees once he realized I was Canadian. He was all giddie when we discussed our Leopard tanks that where stationed in Afghanistan and explained why they could not send theirs. He was very proud of his collection and I expressed that he should be.

The Panther tank is operational sans its original Maybach engine. It has a diesel engine gear box combination from a t55. The historians argue that the Panther was probably the best tank of the war and did out perform the Tiger even tho it had a smaller caliber gun, however the 75 mm canon was longer then any other tank mounted weapon which generated an un real amount of velocity. That velocity made it equal to the famed 88's killing power. That is until the monster Royal/King Tiger's high velocity 88 showed up.

They also traded a Leopard tank to Isreal for the unit you have mentioned. This of course against the wishes of the U. S. Who put up quite a fuss and tried to block the transfer.

I am shocked, shocked I say, that the late production Sd.Kfz. 2 is the wrong colour and missing a fuel tank. Hey those are great pics OP and thanks for posting.
