I do not know about you guys but eversince I heard about the ban I have been reluctant to think about bying my new firearm. I have not even looked at my wish list since.
You can go to this site http://handgunbuyback.gov.au/wids/content/handgunsearch.asp and see what the Austrailian govenment would give you for your handguns. Remember that our dollar is 10% more but it really doesn't matter because they have the new price, the used price (very good condition) and the fair price. My mom comes from south australia and I still have cousins down there. Last month we had one of our cousins stop in for a visit to edmonton on a business trip. I asked him about the buy back and as far as he could remember 10 years ago when it was done they ranked most handguns/rifles between used and poor. Only new gun prices were given if the handgun had never been fired. The very good was classed as almost new and hardly fired and the fair price was all other normal use handguns. Rifles and shotguns were classified the same. So my S&W 629 44 mag new there was worth 1828.76 and since I have shot it more than 20 times it would fall somewhere around the 1000.00 mark or about 45% devaluation. So do one of two things fight like hell and kick the bastards out of Ottawa or move to Alberta. Since I live in Alberta we have a false sense of security because if a Liberal Govenment ever got into power here it would be over for us also. My 2 cents.
