Devcon

Motion canada carries it for less than acklands, I like the stuff it seems a bit harder than JB weld which I have also used with success.

I use the Devcon Titanium Putty. Mostly because I have it on hand. Like Ganderite, I was using their Aluminum Putty but found it to be a bit brittle. Not that it caused any accuracy problems but it would break off the at the thin edges at the most inappropriate time.

Devcon, JB Weld and a multitude of other epoxies can be used. I've even used some of those 2 part epoxies from the Dollar Store with success.

The reason I come back to the Titanium Putty is that I can put a rifle so bedded into the safe and come back to it a year or two later without worry about whether or not it's lost its zero or the bedding has shrunk etc.

I won't say there aren't other types of epoxy that won't do the same thing, just it's my experience that with Devcon Titanium Putty it's right first time, every time.

I use Brownell's Steel Bed but Devcon Steel Putty sold in two tubs is apparently the same thing.I've used them both for bedding with the same results.Just use a good release agent.I use the blue liquid release agent from Brownell's but Johnson's Paste wax works as well.Never had a problem with shrinkage.

Thanks everyone for your knowledge. I've used acraglass in the past and it worked fine. I'd just heard that Devcon was the way to go. It's also about not having to continuously purchase small kits or quantities. The marine tex sounds ok also and partially because it comes in a larger container as well.

Thanks again all and good shooting.

Just go to your local Canadian Tire and purchase a fiber glass kit. They can be had in quantities up to 4 liters at reasonable prices.

I've also used plain-Jane JB weld.....and it works.
Some people will claim shrinkage but I have yet to see it

I have used JB Plastic in composite stocks, and JB Wood in wooden stocks; only caution is to use lot's of release agent; so far I have not found one that is perfect (that schidt really sticks).

I ruined a nice ruger walnut stock with jb weld once. I tried using Lyman case lube as a release agent. Didnt work at all and glues the action to the stock. Won't be doing that again.

Hit up Lee Valley & pick up either some G2 or West system epoxies, the nice thing about both of these are you can mix them with different fillers and dyes to get the properties you want. I use either a microfibre or silica filler depending on the application.

You can mix either epoxy with the west system fillers, West system is a little better but way more expensive!!
