Well finally got my parts together and was able to put the SKS-D I bought from Wally back to what works for me. The stock had to go as the comb was to high for me with my slavic cheekbones.

So after buying a proper stock of off the EE here is what it looks like.

So as the front sight was remove I had to replace it.That was fun trying to find another. You would think with all the sks's in this country it would be easy to find. Not for me.Finally I got hold of Frank at Marstar and he said no luck, but wait I have one for the Yugoslav SKS that should fit. I thought what the heck, not having any luck sourcing a Chinese one.So here is the final pics of my little SKS-D adventure

Was gonna put one on but the metal piece at the front where the lower stock slips in is not set up for one (I do have a D stock with the groove) Was thinking of putting a bipod in the bayonet mount to take away the semi finished look, what do yo think?

My... GOD. :runaway:

Why in the name of all things good and right would anyone BUY that SKS? That was terrifying to look at... well done to you for getting it back to the land of the living!

Doc M ya gotta give Wally credit, other then the scope mount holes everything else is reversible. He went with an idea and tried it out,and he learned something as well. How many other people just plunk down their money to customize an object? Lots,Wally went past that and did his hands on. The man has my respect for that reason. He wasn't afraid to think out of the box. Here's another pic with its brother of a different mother

This is true, I can't blame a guy for trying.

And, like you said, other than the mount holes everything else could be "un-aborted." It's a lot better than seeing the way some Enfields get Bubba'd... this wasn't a 'Bubba', it was more like a 'Skeeter' (Bubba's wiser older brother) that really wasn't that bad at the end of the day.

I think the colour of the stock is what chapped my ass the most, actually... lol!

As of today, I am adding the word "wallyf*cked" to the English language, to describe the outrageous modification of a perfectly good object into something frightening.

it was a good project but it was also sold cheap . :D

millwright beat me and a horde of buyers .

millwright : i too bot a "D" as a project from galleon , it was missing the trigger and i like you are having a bugger of a time finding it.

Necessity is the Mother of invention, but its nice to see some old fashioned wood. The D is quite different than all the other SKSs out there regarding parts. It seems every nation built their SKS with parts that won't fit the other nations type. Russian trigger groups wont fit chinese rifles and work right, and I think the bolts and carriers are different too
