I just don't get the reasoning behind prohibiting a Firearm solely based on it's appearance ...the "scary" factor and because of it's historical background as typically a "bad guy" weapon, if the AK-47 or AK-74 was available in Semi and restricted to 5 rounds only then what's the problem?? No use in trying to understand I guess, just the way it is.

Here is a quote from NDP Justice Critic Françoise Boivin during the LGR hearings when they were asking for a re-classification prior to ending the LGR.
