Stopped in yesterday and saw a M1 Garand with its chamber welded up and looked like who ever did it got some weld on the receiver as well. Going for 600 clams. and its a Springfield # starts with a 2. Never took it down to check anything else out. Also a M1 Carbine behind the glass counter that was also dewatted. I didn't bother looking at that. FYI folks

When I went thru their store several yrs ago I found a Garand receiver that was cracked. An excellent reason to weld up that one anyway. I also saw another good dewat candidate at a gunshow in Dauphin, MB about 6 yrs ago. The receiver was poo-poo on it too and the fellow was wondering if some plumbers tape might hold the barrel tight so that it couldn't be unscrewed by hand.
I saw a dewat (not even a nicely done dewat) M1 Carbine at a gun show a few months ago. The lady told me that an older guy had been using it for reenacting, or parades, or something, and had it welded up so he could freely transport & carry it. Luckily, it was just a post-war commercial carbine. I believe they were asking $250.... Not sure if anyone picked it up.

Saw a guy in Edmonton a few months ago. Reenactor as well. Had a dewat M1 carbine. Seem to recall it being a Winchester.
Too bad.It might have been an M2 carbine, ie the receiver (Inland or Winchester only made M2's) is actually stamped "M2". These are prohib class, and can be legally owned as a registered semi-auto C/A if you have the proper PAL. Otherwise, if you have an M2, only other choice, to remain within the law, is to de-activate it. A number of M2 carbines were shipped into Canada and sold as M1's years ago, even have the disconnect lever in them too....anyone remember Hercules Surplus on Yonge St in TO in the 60's?
