Hello all,

I am wondering what the current value on a old spec deactivated (parkerized) mp44? I'm thinking of letting mine go. I have some mags too and am curious what they are worth? I saw a new spec one on ####### go for over 6k last week and that didn't seem right, I haven't seen many lately though to gauge and prices are very different than I remember on everything now.

Thanks

Some comments regarding values----with the passing of time ---and gun laws.

I sold these two 12-3 converted autos in January 2015 for $7,000.

I bought the MP44 for $1,800 in 2006.
I bought the MP40 around 1976 for approx. $150.

There were some additional expenses along the way for accessories etc.

I am glad I sold them when I did. (Changing gun laws)

In the '60s, a MP44 could be purchased from Interarms for US$85. A M1A1 Thompson was the same price.

$6K would be my educated best guess at current market value for an old-spec #### and Click Stg-44 or MP43/44 in VG(+) or better condition.

Realistically you have. O way of knowing if that actually sold for 6k. Probably someone offered less.

Not sure about the value of a dewat ; but always find it interesting why people pay big bucks for a dewat when 22 cal. look alike MP44s knock offs can be bought so much cheaper , and look very similar if someone just wants a wall hanger to look at .

If someone actually sells one for close to 6k then I wish them well.
Honestly, it's kind of sad things have gone this way. How are younger people supposed to get interested in any of it when the prices are so high? I was actually thinking 3k mark when I noticed the one for 6200 and a sale a friend did last year I thought was high (explains now why his sold so fast as it was less than 5). I think I have an understanding where the value is. Thanks all! For now, it's not being posted.

Good lord, $4K for a fancy paperweight, in 2015? I am not criticizing OP or you, just that someone would pay thousands for metal sculpture that was once a functional firearm. That is insane beyond words.

Agreed. It pains me to know my 12.x guns are worth considerably more as welded up lumps of metal. I will NEVER have them dewatted as long as I own them.

When we review what people pay for boats, cars, custom houses, RV’s, and trips to Mexico to get drunk, it doesn’t seem so silly. Depreciation is often ignored.

I would say there is a lot more utility offered by those things than a dewatted gun. I am a capitalist, so I don't mind that people will voluntarily pay that for one, but I find the valuations insane. What I really mind is dishonest, corrupt governments that force these situations on honest citizens who were naively following the rules and got f@cked without lube in the process. That is tragic.

Yup, and I fully agree - my prohibs will NEVER be dewatted so long as I live.

That said, once I am dead and gone I will cease to care what happens to my collection. To that end, I have left detailed instructions for my fully-licensed family and my executor regarding the deactivation process so that my functional prohibs may be cashed in for the benefit of the estate. Why not? According to the law, at that point (under current legislation), there are only really 2 choices - deactivation or destruction. The third option of donating to a museum or selling to a Firearms business aren't really vialble, as musuems increasingly shy away from functional firearms and businesses will only pay pennies on the dollar of original investment value. Nope - we are left with a choice of deactivation or destruction. Given those 2 alternatives, I know which I reluctantly prefer.... the maintenance of a historical artifact, no matter how neutered, is still preferable to its total destruction....
