Dewatt tommy gun

A Thompson is my only dewatt.

With a dewatt you can display, transport, or buy/sell without any issues.

It's a shame it's the way it is but I'm too young to have gotten any of the 12.x so there's simply no other option in Canada for most of us.

For those who own converted or full autos on 12.x license categories they're not currently allowed to take them to the range and shoot them. Also, those who have 12.x licenses are getting smaller and smaller and the guns are becoming worth less money unless dewatted.

I still love my Thompson even if it doesn't function. Doesn't appear it was even issued or possibly even ever fired before becoming a dewatt.

Nice gun steve. My tommy gun will be my second dewatt... my first is my AK74.

Deactivated or not these are still worth enjoying for their historical value...We've done a number of displays to cadet / youth organisations so they can get a 'feel' for what our guys used during the war....Paperweight..? I don't think so....Far too many gun 'snobs' around here..

Tommyinbc has it right on. To add they are art you can show off. I have an 85 pound paperweight (.50 m2) as some would call it, I say its eye candy and once mounted on my halftrack its a complete package. Id never be able to mount a real one and goto events let alone drive thru a timmys for a coffee.

I was told by a collector friend that ANZAC troops based in the Pacific Theatre moved the rear sling swivel to the top of the butt stock. Certainly his ex-NZ Army m1928 has an arsenal repair in that spot from when the swivel was moved back to its normal location.

Thanks for the info bas ! That gives me a little more info to look into :)
Cheers

Are those made by Savage more desirable? I have Savage M1. Old dewat, no rod through the barrel, just a vertical pin, but no #### and click, nothing moves. Thinking of letting it go. How much do they go for now?

Hi
Just saw your AD in the EE section for your M1.
First i would like to say, verry nice gun.
Collectors source had one for sale at the beginning of january for 2500$ + tax and the gun was sold quick.
I think the value is 2000-2500 and many people since couple time look for one so you will probably sell it quick .

Canadians also relocated the sling swivel as a standard in Italy and patched the original point in the stock. Every one I've seen looks very nice and cleanly done.

Wolverine Supplies had a nice dewat M1A1 Thompson with the sling a year ago for $1250 tax included. I still have pics of it and saved the ad.
Collectors Source is 2 to 4 times the retail price with most of their items, maybe even more!
There was a dewat 1928A1 Thompson on the EE about 2 months ago that sold for $1200.

This price is now outdated.
I just bought a WW2 m1a1 from wolverine and their asking price was 2000$
We will never find a dewatt WW2 tommy gun for under 2K and i think the price will continue to grow up.

I noticed you just sold a couple nice Thompsons here on the EE.

It seems it didn't take very long for you to find some nice examples since this post a couple weeks ago.

I think the examples you sold were really nice!

Did you manage to find a good source for these?
