So i may have an opportunity to purchase a dhillon xl650 with 9mm, .40sw, 45acp dies for $1000 (all manuals etc). Im really only going to be doing .308 reloading at the moment. Anyway my questions are....is this a good deal? Can a add an attachment to drop the bullet in place instead of manually placing it, and as a beginneria this a good way to start........(a friend who reloads will be tutoring me)

Having just bought a lot of that same stuff that sounds like a great deal. Especially if it includes the case feeder.

You can use either a Mr Bulletfeeder or GSI bullet feeder. I just received a Mr Bulletfeeder from SuperComp Sports today at a good price.

I use a single stage press (forster co ax) for .308 and most will probably recommend the same. For pistol calibers and some rifle calibers the Dillon will be great.

I think that sounds fair , I know there one guy in here who wants $1900 shipped for similer set up and for that price u mise well get a 1050 now no dies with it thou of course
 
Yes you can. You will need either the small rifle or large rifle case feeder plates - assuming you get a case feeder with it.

A new 650 with case feeder, set up for 1 calibre goes for anywhere between $1100 and $1400. Add a couple of hundred per calibre conversion with dies, and you're looking at a great deal. As far as loading 308 goes, yes you can load 308 on a 650, you'll need the shell plate and a tool head with dies, you already will have the primer system (large pistol and large rifle primers are the same size and a 650 comes with both large and small systems). I don't think I've seen a bullet feeder for rifle calibre bullets. The dies you need will depend on the rifle you're reloading for - bolt guns tend to work better when neck sizing is used, autoloaders require both full length sizing and a decent crimp. Either way the 650 has the stations, length and strength to reload ammunition easily the equal of the best factory ammo.
 
I load 5 rifle calibers on my 650, in addition the 7 pistol calibers. Sounds like a good deal, considering dies and caliber conversion kits per caliber run around $200 more or less, not counting the tool head, tool head stand and powder thrower.
 
Minimum 4' deep X 6' wide table is 30" high with some clearance above the table if you want a case loader when the unit is mounted on a strong mount.
 
I built mine 6 ft long and 3 ft deep and some days it's not big enuf for a single stage and 650. The more space you can give it the better.
 
i've used a bench , 32"x 48" , with a 550 [ same foot print as the 650 ] & lee classic mounted & found it worked well , but bigger is better .

Is the dhillon xl650 a knock off made in India of the Dillon XL650 .......?
