Hey guys

I've been searching online and haven't been able to find a direct comparison between these two scopes. Is the Vortex worth the extra money for some more optical quality? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I just got the covenant 4-16 sfp while cabelas had them on sale. Very impressed to say the least. Just as clear as my diamondbacks. And i am known to be a bit of a vortex fan boy....

I compared the Diamondback Tactical ffp, and the Covenant ffp just in store the other day. For me it was no contest, Diamondback all the way.

I have the diamondback ffp. Have not looked at the covanent.
The vortex is OK for my needs.... I do notice some optical aberration and mild distortion and the colors look a bit "muted" to me but it works well for what I need it to do.bought it more for the features than the glass.

This is a very subjective comparison, optical quality is different to each eye. Keep a look out for sales @ cabelas and the EE. They were just on sale for $199, at that price its not possible to justify the Vortex IMO - at the normal price the Vortex warranty is a huge advantage, you can basically set it on fire and they'll replace it.

I have 3 covenants, I'm more than happy with the quality of the glass.

I talked with them this morning about an issue I have. The service manager said that unless you send a video showing you blatantly destroying it, it’s covered. He went on to say, even then, if it was attached to a rifle in the video, they’ll cover that too.
Stuff happens. Especially on stuff made in China.

I played with and looked through the Diamondback yesterday and it definitely has better glass and turrets than the Covenant.
I like the open center reticle on the Vortex but Cabelas has a nice reticle also, personal preference there really but the vortex ret is more clear/crisp with cleaner edges vs the Covenant.
When the Sales are on those Covenants are impossible to beat at those prices but the Vortex is definitely a better scope.

I also noticed the optical aberration in the Vortex...was going to buy it but it turned me off.
Maybe it was that scope or my eyes that day, I was sold on them prior to looking through one.

I watched a YouTube review on the Diamondback, Strike Eagle and the Vortex Gen II. There is a definite difference in the quality of glass between the 3. Pics taken thru the scope show a green hue, not visible to the eye though. I bought the Diamondback Tactical for my 223. I wouldn't use it on something with higher recoil. Apparently there are issues with it but it's going to have to last until I upgrade it. It's going on a paper puncher so hunting at 1st and last light won't be an issue either.

Cabela's has the Covenant 6-24×50 on sale right now for $300. Mar 29 - Apr 14.

After doing my research I ended up with the Vortex DB Tactical 6-24×50. Just can't beat Vortex's warranty.
