Check out post 9 I got it to work!

I bought a UTG sub compact .22 rifle/shotgun rear sight for a project a while ago. I was trying to mount it to a Savage mark II but the front sight I would have needed would have been much to high to do the project. So I put the peep sight away and never used it.

Recently I purchased a Diana 24 in .22 caliber and figured I could try mounting it on the rifle since the plastic front sight is very high, it just may work out. I would also need to purchase a dovetail to picatinny mount to make this work. My only issue is I threw away the money the first time trying to put peeps on a savage when i should have just bought a set of Tech sights and dont want to do it again.

Does anybody out there run a peep on their Diana 24 with plastic front sight and could give me a measurement of the height of the peep of the dovetail?

That way i would know what type of dovetail to picatinny adapter to buy.

Hope you can help. I know i could pick up a weaver mount but already have this thing in my part bin. If i cant get it to fit I will just run open sights

By the way the rifle shoots like a dream with RWS Hobby, more or less the same POI at 10 and 25 yrds so dont adjust the sights between those two points.
I found it at a show a couple weeks back for $90 did a lube tune and it shoots with a nice thwack and no vibration. Will chrony at some point.

You mean the UTG M1 Carbine style?

I mounted one on a Crosman Vantage using these..

I do not understand they pretty much disappear under the site when they were run properly and you don't see them at all ?

The issue will be the front sight is not tall enough
Unfortunately the Diana 24 doesn’t have a replaceable front sight
I have been examining this issue for years with this model and determined a gunsmith installing a new front sight would be a necessity to run a peep sight

I ran this setup on a Crosman vantage. That just had the small front fibre sight. Zeroed fine for the ranges I shot.

It took a while to update this thread since I finally got the adapter today. I ordered the Hitsan mounts on amazon that OkayShooter suggested for $6.00 which shipped out of China. The first order got lost so they sent me a new one. It didnt fit out of the box so I did some filing and tapped it on then installed the UTG peep and first shot was low at 10 yrds. I made a small adjustment and it was dead on the 1” target. So in the end it works well and didnt cost too much, around $30 or so including the sight.

I should add, I bought the UTG adapter mount which is actually of very good quality but too high.
