Howdy folks,

A friend of mines (KevinM. on here) father came into possession of a diana model 24 pellet gun. We were using it the other day for the first time and notice that it is b*tchin' hard to get the pellets in the chamber. I'm talking hurt your thumb bad to push em in type of difficult. The rifle shoots great once their in but i'm wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has experienced this.

Cheers,
GS

That's a nice airgun. What you are describing is ot normal, it should only take light pressure to insert the pellet.

Check the chamber/bore, if it's smooth and clean, I'd try another brand of pellet.

And here we go......................my favourite brand of pellets...............are German made!! LOL

Would you by chance be trying to put .22 size pellets in a .20 gun? Diana does make a .20 gun as well. Check carefully what is on the gun, Cible Canada has .20 pellets if that's the problem...

Diana 24's were not available in .20 unless someone re-barreled yours. I'm not aware that Diana makes any .20 guns unless special ordered.
I agree that what the OP describes is not normal. What pellets are you using?

I had a Diana 24C (carbine/short barrel) and that was one of 2 things that made me sell it. The other was the ridiculous fiber optic sights. Anyhow, you could/can buy a pellet seater, I noticed the local SAIL store I was walking through sell them...but I'm sure other places do too. Google searched it, about the second image down;

These work great, no more sore thumbs! BTW, the pellets I used were all RWS.

Hey folks,

No its a .177 Stamped right on the side. I checked the chamber/bore and its free and clear. I guess maybe a different brand of pellet but I can't see how that would change it cause they should still be the same size.

Also when I say tough to put I mean you risk (and usually do) smush pellets sometimes trying to get em in type of tough. Its accurate as anything once their in but getting em in is a royal pain.

Well... any luck with different pellets? I know .177 pellets come in different sizes. I've seen sizing from 4.48mm to 4.51mm, but i don't believe that would make them difficult to seat. Some brands have really crappy QC. I've picked up a pellet before that had wings on it! :eek:
