I thought I read somewhere a while back that Cooey once made a rifle chambered in 30-30. I can't find any reference to this in my books. Does anyone know if this was actually manufactured (and if so what the model number was)?

thanks

According to a book I have on the Cooey rifles , they made .22 rifles in bolt action , semi-auto and pump action, and shotguns in break open and reportedly a .410 bolt action but there is no picture or real record of this one. When Winchester took over they made the single shot break open shotguns in most gauges, the .22 in bolt action single shot, bolt repeater and semi-auto, they also made a economy model 70 called I believe a Model 670. It may have been chambered in .30-30 , but I think it was in rimless cartridges like .30-06. CIL (Canadian Industries Limited)had a line of firearms and one of them was a Savage bolt action in .30-30 but it had a CIL model number ,this may be what you are thinking of.

"...called I believe a Model 670..." Cooey Model 71. Although I think there may have been a 670 too. They're a very close copy of the Win 70.
My 71 is in .243. Put a Model 70 stock on it long ago. The only stock modification required was opening the recoil lug slot back about 1/8". Subsequently filled with glass bedding.
Cooey made all kinds of firearms in their plant in Coburg until Winchester bought them out and closed the plant in the late 70's. So books or not, there's no reason to assume they didn't make a .30-30. Likely a copy of the Savage 340.

That was what I was thinking of - thanks :)

Any idea (ballpark) of what a decent one would go for these days?
