Just picked up a copy of shooting times 2008 gun guide msrp of the 550 medium , magnum safari , magnum series , safari classics , ultimate hunting rifle. range from $1950-$3450 ??? is this a typo or do I cash in my CZ ?

I'm pretty sure they changed the models, the basic CZ that is selling for around agrand in 375 H&H isn't offered anymore.

Safari Classics is not a part of CZ-USA but build rifles on their actions. They offer chamberings in 404 Jeffery, 500 Jeffery, 505 Gibbs, 450 Rigby and the cost is in the range of what you posted.

I can not see CZ increasing the price for a 550 in 375 to $2000. You may as well get the Ruger RSM at that price: A lot more gun for the money. I think some wires have gotten crossed at Shooting Times.

The basic 550 in .375, .416, .458 etc is still around for $1000 or so. The guzzied up CZ USA versions can ramp the price up quickly. They have nice lumber, are thicker and heavier.
