Did Daniel Defense decide they were selling too many rifles?

What if that stock works and handles really good?? So many damn people judge guns on how they look ? bad move . they are tools not jewelry !! They are for hunting, defense, ect. not for winning a fashion show. Same thing happened when Glocks hit the market , people thought they were junk for years just cause they were ugly lol..

You mean like the bunch of stocks already on the market that aren't ugly and don't have a design that causes concerns regarding it's engineering? Don't get me wrong I'm sure some people will buy it simply because it says DD on it. DD makes good stuff but I sense some shark jumping here.

Yea I'm in the same boat. Awesome looking gun. And most of these comments are just proof CGN is dropping in the hole. Slamming a new product before even using one. We are all firearms owners and people prefer different designs. Grow up FFS

I own a DDM4 V7 with a Magpul stock, and No, I don't think these are ugly, the new coating is nice it's just the stock that isn't as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as the stocks we are used to seeing.

Pure guess here, but I imagine that in the design process DD came to a point that they had to change the shape of the stock to differentiate it from the competition, to forestall patent infringement, and this is what we get from that process.

The butt pad itself reminds me of some the H&K pads, so that makes sense. I like the QD and regular sling mounts and their positions. Looks light enough. Textured cheek piece might be neat as long it doesn't require a tactical-beard-face-shield.

It's just the loop . . . Perhaps some kind of magic carry handle? Maybe it can be fitted with a scythe blade for butt-stroke soul-harvesting?

If it didnt have that loop it would look sweet, I figure its there for bipod shooting

I like the FDE receivers. Not a fan of the grip/stock. I'd end up throwing on something different anyways so that wouldn't be an issue to me. Just sell the grip and stock to the tacti-cool, mall ninja at the local range and enjoy the rifle with new parts that you swap.

Honestly, I think that the FDE stock/ grip is not the most attractive thing to look at, but Im sure that the Ergonomics behind this are probably the priority over looks. Give DD a few years. you will see that they will have a ###ier version with the same or better ergos. This is after all, the first gen. Based on the way it looks to bew designed i would imagine that the butt was designed to roll up to the high ready/ threat position more quickly and controlably. probably would help the speed and accuracy of you first few shots. just my 2 cents

Haha. There's one in every crowd.

I read not too long ago that one of the reasons they designed it the way that they did was so that it didn't rip out beard hair and the rubber coating promoted a stronger cheekweld during recoil. The grip is ergonomic and the rubber coating in shaped in a way to avoid your gloves from sticking to the rubber to engage/disengage the safety selector switch.

Mannnn, i should of waited to get me one with the new set of grips and stock, 1000% better than the stock magpul crap that it came with. The original stock was just added expenses because it had to be replaced, the new ones have the angle, flared, and the recoil pad looks like it'll be soft on the shoulder, and if you look closely it even has a softer rubber embedded in the stock right where the face, cheek is supposed to be placed. It is even flat on the bottom vs. the standard pointed bottom of the stock which does not support the rifle from a bipod at all now it does, great work DD, my only complaint about the pistol grip is that it has the built in trigger guard and there is no high back strap on these. Hope this improvement did not drive up the price too much, oh wait i do, because i got mine too soon.

Everyone showed scepticism of Glocks when first produced due to the fact they were not an all steel firearm (composite instead), it had nothing to do with looks.

So many damn people judge guns on how they look ? bad move . they are tools not jewelry !! They are for hunting, defense, ect. not for winning a fashion show. Same thing happened when Glocks hit the market , people thought they were junk for years just cause they were ugly lol..

On first impression these new DD stocks appeared ugly and now after several months seeing them I still believe they are ugly. So yeah this is the first time I've ever heard negative talk on a DD product. I'm sure they will still sale well, but for those who don't like the look it's an extra expense to swap out the ugliness.

Its not so much the stock...If you don't like it replace it with what you do like.
The real kick in the teeth is the pistol grip and trigger guard is one piece!
If you want to replace the pistol grip your putting in your own trigger guard as well.

I like it...looks pretty good. I'm sure that DD's new design will have it's benefits. Me personally, I prefer the SOPMOD stock. Regardless of what stock is on my rifle, I swap it out for a SOPMOD...simple and functional. It would almost be better if we could purchase rifles without the factory stocks that they supply them with, since almost everyone swaps them out for ones of their preference. But, that'll never happen...
