Did EOtech ever fix the thermal drift?

I used them (552) in the sandbox and bought a 512 once back for my rifle back in 2011. Then I lost a match in 2015 because the darn thing couldn't hold a zero. Turned out it was the thermal drift issue and I sold it. Did this problem get fixed? Can they be trusted now?

Thanks

Hopefully whoever purchased was told of the deficiencies in the sight before they bought it. ??

A lot of assumptions going on here. I did not sell a defective sight to anyone here. I would not want to soil my name or EE rating here nor would that be ethical. That sight was sold to a friend that was well aware of the issue I had with it. I believe he returned it to EOtech. At least he said he would with one other he had if he seen an issue.

Good to hear Moe! As far as I've heard, the issue was addressed and it cost the company big time with regards to the returns they received and the cash they dispensed as a result of the number of returns.

OK thanks for that. I thought that was the case but I wanted to hear it from a CGN'er. I might venture in that direction again but wanted to make sure that the company had sorted that out. I reached out to that guy today who I sold it to. He said he never had an issue with it. Told me I was idiot for letting it go so cheap. I guess I am suppose to feel better.

If you need to shoot the best you can while moving, shoot from awkward body posture position, shoot from low light to bright areas or vice versa or just need to shoot as fast as you possibly can, the Eotech is the best optic in my opinion. Don't just buy one....buy two!

Oh ya.....no issues with Thermal Drift in my units.

I did notice that when doing 3 gun and IPSC years back.

I have have a 552 with wandering zero. Eotech says they can’t fix it. I bought it in 2007. Maybe less than 400 rds. I’ll never buy Eotech again

I've also heard they fixed it.

I have an XPS2 and it has reliably hit steel at 100 yds both at +30 and -30 without having adjusted it.

I never noticed a drift or any zeroing issues with mine, but it did shut off on me a couple times, of course only happened in the middle of a competition and never out on the range for practice, I took the offer for the buyback and put the money towards an elcan. The eotech was a really cool sight but the elcan is absolutely amazing.
