Did I buy a Dominion Arms 870 or that cheaper kind?

I recently bought a used made in China 870 type shotgun. I am not 100% sure of the manufacturer. Is there some way to make sure it is a Dominion Arms Grizzle and not the 780 knockoffs or whatever they are called that were on sake for super cheap? I have heard nothing but horrible things about those shotguns. It says Made In China on it and it has a serial # 0081937**. The trigger guard is plastic. I had a Dominion Arms 870 before an the mag tube cap was differant and had a sling loop. If anyone can let me know what this gun is or could figure it out with more information it would be much appreciated.

Well don't I feel stupid. I though they only came with 14" barrels and this one has a 12.5". How do these compare to the Dominion Arms?

My Dominion Arms shotgun only says Dominion and it has a metal trigger guard and the sling attachment by the tube endcap.

Personally I like it more than any 870, Mossberg, Ithaca, Norinco 37, I have owned and I just beat my Grizzly when hiking, 4X4ing.

The HP9 is every bit as good as a grizzly. They are nearly the same gun. All my grizzlys came with metal trigger guards though... So that's interesting. Grizzlys are stamped "dominion" on the receiver.

Your alright. That is defenatly not the cheapo homeland security 780
I could tell from the picture, the 780 has a memorable glossy finish.
The HP9 and dominion arms versions are the same and as good or better then current 870 express models.

Don't sweat it. You didn't buy the junker!

^^^ Correct!

I had a Norinco 780 I paid 100$ for it brand new, I had to take the grinder to it to get it to even cycle rounds. Needless to say the Homeland 780s are garbage in my opinion as well as many others lol.

Read lots of reviews about the HP9 version and you should be happy with it!

Dominion Arms guns are Norincos re branded for Canada Ammo. You've basically got the same gun, there might be minor cosmetic differences between importers.

HP9 is a very good copy and I have one with a 14" barrel.
I still do love the many Ithica M37s I have due to their history and slam fire capabilities.
Enjoy as you have a fine gun there!

Well thank you for all the information. I ran about a hundred rounds through it and although snap caps got jammed in it live ammo cycled great. My only complaint was that the edges of the loading port were very sharp and I cut my knuckle stuffing shells in it.

I don't know if the previous owner never shot it or I was just more careful but the sharp edges didn't bother me as much near end of my shooting session. I was thinking of trying to smooth some of the sharp areas down with out making the finish look too awful. It was a lot of fun and great for clays close in.

to the OP ..Grizzly and hp9 are basically the same one .. its good to go and built like a tank.
Keeping in mind Norinco is the same as dominion arms (DA is just a rebrand for canada ammo with some add ons)
They are the same basic built like a tank gun..the 780 as noted above ..was a junker :p
Ymmv & imho
