Did I get a bad cz shadow?

Slightly off topic here. But...
I thought that if your gun had a de-cocker that you had to have a DA pull on the first round (not the case with the Shadow) and if it doesn't, you just use the safety. Sounds like i'm wrong, but I wouldn't be a fan of dropping the hammer on a live round...

I concur. Only had my 686 for a bit, but the DA pull on it is saaaaWEET! Just the other day I fired 20 rounds at 15y SA and 20 rounds DA, and the groups were almost identical in size. SA I was hitting higher, DA I was hitting a bit lower.

It's got me wondering about the DA in my Shadow now. Going to have to give it a whirl again next time out at the range.

Not having to pick up the brass after shooting the revolver is a bonus too!

No kidding, The gun was almost purpose built for IPSC Production, a division that demands a DA first pull. Glad I started on revolvers back in the day, DA first pull with the Shadow is no different than shooting a DA/SA revolver. Nothing wrong with the gun. Although I am willing to take this used, obviously defective Shadow off his hands for a reasonable amount.

What? Resting a hammer down on a live round happens every week-end at every IPSC/IDPA event where DA/SA guns play. It is done safely without incident. To be fair though I would not use the wording "dropping" to the lowering of the hammer. I have yet to see an AD where the thumb roll method of lowering the hammer us used. Slavex has shot his CZ more times than most shoot their guns in a lifetime and I doubt his has had a mishap yet lowering the hammer on his CZ Shadow.

Production division requires first pull be DA, you could use a shadow cocked and safety on but not in the Production division.
 
Since the first round is double action ,slowly pull the trigger until discharge,no need to be in a hurry, each time put back to double action to repeat , this will help you to improve your shooting.
 
I have never seen CZ fix that problem ever, and since they won't fix it, it potentially makes the pistol worthless. If you want to get rid of it quick, pm me for details on where to send funds.

On the other hand, CZ are wonderful pistols to tinker with and with very little effort you can turn that trigger into a thing of beauty. I have had all the triggers on mine modified and they are among the best there is.
