Did I get a bad die? And should I be concerned

Hey everyone! I just got a new set of dies from lee and when I was sizing my new Starline brass I noticed it is making what looks like a rub mark on the one side of the case. It isn't deep enough to feel with my nail though it is more cosmetic than anything. The die is clean inside and there isn't any obvious marking. I chamfered the cases inside and out and tried removing the decapping pin but the result was exactly the same. Is it possible that the dies are a hair smaller than the brass and it's rubbing on the side? I don't have any once fired to try yet. My main question is can I still use the dies? I'm not too worried about having perfect brass it's going to get a little beat up in the AR anyway. Thanks for the help!

Looks normal to me, that is the die just sizing the body from what it looks lime. Just make sure you have some lube on there. Even new brass will be a slightly different size and shape than the sizing dies.
 
Rub mark on one side only? Could be die but might also be wrong, dirty, or off-spec shellholder, or ram misaligned with die(any similar problem with other calibres u load for?). Be patient, diagnose and correct.

But it looks like you have not touched the neck
are you using lube? --- lube when tight makes it slide better

600/800 wet dry sandpaper with a light touch will reduce marks for future use on the die
 
This is the first caliber that has done this to me, none of the other ones have done this. I have used 2 lee shell holders worth the same result. It is in the exact same place on all of the casings and the same mark . I use a generous coat of unique lube, .458 socom has a tendency to stick horrendously. The pictures do lie the necks were sized. there is light marks kind of like those on the body but not as severe.

I guess you didn't like my suggestion...
 
To much lube and you'll see dents in the neck/shoulder area.
Not sure if it is an anomaly with the Caliber or one of three things maybe defective.
Brass.
Die.
Press.
Was the brass you show in picture full length resized? (option)
Return the die and buy RCBS or Hornady or Red field all are going to be more money and made with care and attention to detail.(option)
I only mention this because you mention these are new dies and asking if they are possibly defective.
Eliminate one item one step at a time.

The brass was brand new Starline I was resizing before loading. I do have another press I can try. If all else fails I'll pick up a hornady set. Thanks everyone!
