Did I pay too much??

IT really doesn't matter, you need them and you got them.

5 cents a round vs 4 cents a round, not material to me.

No it doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things.

I was just trying to get a feel for what the prices are around the country. As mentioned a couple of our local dealers are taking advantage of the situation and have been putting the screws to area shooters. $100.00 a brick primers and $50.00 a pound powder is ridiculous especially when said powder and primers are in packaging that is at least 10 years old. Plain-Jane Hornady cup & core rifle bullets with $65.00 / 100 price tags and Remington 30-06 brass at $75.00 for a bag of 50.

The thing is that eventually the supply lines will be full again and I for one will remember the gouging and will probably buy ALL my sporting goods through mail order. The local guys can then just continue to ##### and whine as they go broke and close their doors.

I haven't bought primers recently but I just bought a lb. of Higginson's repackaged IMR4895 from Hub Sports in Abbotsford. $42.00!

:) Stuart

addendum: I just checked with Higginsons. They are currently out of 4895 for about 6 weeks but they said "all pricing is on our website" and their website price is $29.00 (!)

I would not paint all small "local guys" with the same brush! :runaway:

As Sniper58 said your establishment is not "local" to me. Hell, You will probably be one of the mail-order dealers I turn to. ;)

Mind you after looking at Clint's gun/reloading room a while ago I think he has more stock on hand than most dealers in the Cariboo! Time to start buying him the good beer now. :D

You're mail order to me too, todbartell. Yesterday I picked up (locally) 1000 Fed 215's for $49 and a 1000 Win. Large Rifle for $45, if I remember correctly. There were some other odds & ends also like .338 bullets, case lube spray, etc. As usual, I just stopped in to browse for a bit with a shootin' buddy and my wallet ended up $200+ lighter.
