Brake clean and acetone are safe but will remove all the oil on your gun, leaving a white hazy look. So to fix it add oil

Why do people do this? Kinda like putting a silly sweater on your dog. I don't get it, but whatever blows your skirt up.

Lol whitening numbers or lettering on a gun is a little more badass then a shih tzu with a sweater on

No actually it's called pride of ownership. Some of us were brought up to look after and value our posessions. Plus on a crappy day it's a quick fun project that costs very little.

One last point. Most colourfilling is the safe/fire on an AR. Many rifles come with this already doneat the factory. Some LMT models, PE90 and RFB come to mind.

If you don't like the colourfilling or change your mind it's an easy change back.
