did something change with customs?

I placed a couple US orders last week, one with Brownells, one with EGW. Both packages took 3 days total to arrive....I'm not complaining that's for sure, just wondering what changed?
That's 3 days total from them mailing to my mailbox, cheapest USPS option. That is faster then I can get #### in Canada ffs lol
 
This with standard USPS International First Class shipping? My Brownells orders usually take 10 buisness days, sometimes longer if it gets held up by customs. If I ship USPS priority post, I get it in about 5-7 days instead but the cost to ship jumps up considerably.
 
The $10 cheapest rate from Brownells. I think the biggest differrence was clearing customs in a couple hours and straight to the shipping truck...
 
Might be something to do with Canada Post. This last Sunday I ordered a book from Chapters and it was in my mailbox Tuesday morning. I can't see how they did it.
