Did the Germans have anything special in development as far as firearms at the end..?

Advanced (for the time) aircraft cannons. Mk 215 is still used, essentially unchanged, in todays harrier and mirage fleets. Now known as the ADEN and DEFA

That would be the MK 213/30 (the 20mm version was the MG 213C). The ADEN/DEFA family of guns aren't quite a straight up copy and have changed over the years, but they work basically the same way and were developed with the input of the German designers who had worked on the MG 213C and MK 213/30.

Other revolver cannon include the US M39 20mm and the German Mauser BK 27 27mm cannon.

I don't know what they called it but they did start to make a gun that shot around corners, you could even use the sights around a corner. Norinco has incorporated this technology into every firearm they manufacture.

If you are talking about the so-called 'Krumlauf', more correctly called the 'Nehrkampfgeraet' or 'close-in defence weapon',it was never intended to be used without being mounted in the roof ball mount of a StuG III or IV.
