Didn't buy the Sako 85

The Cooper 280AI rifles have a 1 in 10" twist instead of the usual 1 in 9" or 1 in 9-1/2" twists used in most higher velocity 7mm class cartridges. That is just one more think that I liked about the Cooper.I had all of my custom 7mmstw rifles equipped with 1 in 10" twist barrels.

Yeah I seen that twist rate is 1-10! His Gaillard on his 280 AI is a 1-10. Now we did spend more time with the heavier bullets because they seemed to shoot good right out of the gate. That is not to say that with a little work the 139's couldn't shoot too! We found H4350 to be the best powder, with Winchester LR primers. What are your plans for powder primer combo?

Looking forward to a range report...I've never actually seen a Cooper rifle

Neither have I.I didn't even know that there was such a rifle company until a few days ago.:D

I am taking the chance that it is going to be a good rifle after talking to several Cooper owners online, and reading many online reviews of Cooper rifles.I had never seen a 7mmstw or 300RUM cartridge either before ordering custom rifles in those chamberings.I am one of those people that enjoys trying new products.Other than my Weatherby Mark Vs,I haven't bought a rifle that I was disappointed with after buying it.

You will like it! Clay is a straight up guy and easy to deal with! What was the 280 NC brass worth? That's nice not having to fireform. I had to form all my 25/06 AI brass. Nothing like running a couple 100 rounds down the pipe just to get some brass! Mind you fireforming is quite accurate!

The Nosler 280AI brass runs around $75 per 50.It's not cheap, but supposedly it is much better quality than most other brass with the exception of Lapua.
