I'm wanting to start reloading rifle rounds and I've decided to buy the lee 50th kit because I won't be shooting high volumes. Couple hundred 2506 rounds and hunting bullets for 270 35whelen and maybe a few hundred rounds for the 4570 each year. To me that's not a lot of shooting so my question is if I buy the lee kit what brand of dies is best ? Lee? Rcbs? Hornady?
2506, 270,35whelen, and 4570 are what ill be loading thanks
 
I like Redding dies the best for their excellent finish and smooth operation, but RCBS and Lyman have worked well for me also. I really like the collet neck sizing die by LEE, but have to admit their dies do have a cheaper feel than the other more expensive brands.

I've always recomended Lee dies because they are a good valuse and theywork. However having dealt with both RCBS, Hornady and Lee customer service RCBS or Hornady are much easier to deal with. This being said I don't like the bullet seater in Hornady dies.

Pretty hard to go wrong with RCBS.
 
I have never had a issue with Lee dies. I did succeed in breaking a depriming/resizer pin by my own error. Contacted them by email, they asked for a picture of the broken part. One was on its way the next day at no charge. I have used RCBS and Hornady and have not had issues. Every one raves about RCBS warranty, but a good die shouldn't have warranty issues. In general they all do the job.

I've got Lee, RCBS, Redding, Lyman, C&H, Pacific, Hornady, Wilson and Dillon dies right now. And I used to have a set by Bair (Bear? Bare?) and a set by Herter's.

I've never bought a bad die. They all have nice features, like Lee's collet dies, the Wilson and Redding neck bushings, and Hornady's "egg-shaped" neck expander.
