DIEMACO Parts for sale in the USA

I heard that years ago reservists on some training op were sleeping, including their "guards" and local thugs came in and took rifles whilst the youngsters were asleep. I heard this happened more than once, and as a result some things got changed. Of course I also heard a story about a Princess and Pea once too, doesn't mean either one is true.

That happened to some army cadets camping outside of Winnipeg back in the 80s. Lost one or two C1s. Also happened at St Charles range in Winnipeg to a local unit in the late 80s. They were in their tents with the rifles stored outside, a snowmobile pulled up in the middle of the night during a blizzard, grabbed a couple, and took off.

We had an interesting one occur when I was at base maintenance in the early 80s. The old supply guy would come accross the civilian road between base supply and base maintenance. He would be driving a wharehouse mule with those little mule carts hooked up behind. On it, he would have weapons laying like cordwood, going to base maint for inspection or repair. Come springtime, the PPCLI regimental police were driving down the civilian road one night to see a SMG C1 sitting in the melting snowbank. Worst thing, was that it hadn't even been reported as missing.

When you have around 100,000 firearms, some are bound to go missing. Funny thing is, how many do you hear about being used in crimes.
Even the RCMP here in Shilo lost a handgun about 5 years back. Because of the extra housing here, outside departments can rent some of it. The female officer left the little case with her service handgun on the roof of the car and drove away from the PMQs. Not sure if they ever found that one; they sure announced it enough times in the O groups.

When I was on my Militia unit's rifle team back in the mid-70's we used to be allowed to keep our team rifles at home (so that we could get out for extra practice when there was no storeman available) That ended when one of the less stable team members shot up his neighbourhood.
Never lost one though!

There wer 70 C7's stolen from the Brantford armories as well as some Inglis Hi-Powers .I 'll never forget the quote from the commander " it's OK the bolt's were removed " so far as far as I can remember only 4 or 5 have been recovered .this was about 10 or more years ago so there are a few out there

I also know of a C-9 in a lake lost by some engineers in an assault boat that capsized. I know they sent divers through that lake for several summers, but never did find it. I thought about doing some fishing there a while back, but really, it can't be in very good shape anymore.

As for the rifle stealling ski-doo thief, it is a major liability on any winter exercise, reg or reserve. I am surprised it hasn't happened allot more often.
