Diemaco rear sight, Polymer? or Steel?

Back up sight

As far as I know there were three produced 1) early aluminium/polymer that the cf purchased with the C7a1's that were of less than acceptable quality (off center peep holes, peeps counter sunk in the wrong direction. incompatable adjusment screws on the sight weak mountings ect ect ect) 2)second run steel that was sold to many NATO countries much better quality much much higher price I thnink DLR bought a few of these but rejected them based on price and Lack of use of current Back Up sight.
3) current production run of back up sight is an all poly body with metal sight and screws purchased in the late 90's early 00's as a replacement to the old back up most of the quality issues have been worked out and every C7A1/A2 is to be issued with one (giggle giggle) and one serial of the pwt is to be shot to sight and qualify on the back-up sight(ya right). they are out there. ive only seen them issued in pictures of Op Apollo and physicly seen them in Ontario at the shcool and at diemaco. Ottawa has ordered that QM's order one per rifle but I don't know of any unit that has done so out west and the OP's staff refuses to implement the back up sight relay into the PWT. so they are out there and they are not used. this is probobly a lot more than you wanted to know, but extra UFI is extra UFI use it as you wish.;)
