While the rest of the rifle looks OK, the casting on the front sight looks to have a cosmetically rough finish, not something I would expect from a top tier producer like Colt. My guess is the same, probably old stock left over from the government contracts. The hand guards were in rough shape, but that's expected of mass production meant for abuse in the hands of goobers like me, haha!

I was a little surprised by it at first when I opened the box, but just like the hand guards, a lot of the parts were probably straight from the Government contract parts bin, meant for abuse rather than have a finer finish like they would for commercial sale.

If the gas block doesn't have that line and looks too smooth, it is most likely made out of a casting. Casted front site towers are found in cheap rifles in the past. They break if they get smacked on something hard.

You guys are complaining about the wrong thing. The Fsb on that colt looks exactly like what it is supposed to be a proper forged Fsb.

Well, I finally dug up some rails out of storage for my SA20. I got these off an American from an exercise a few years ago and was going to put them on my C7 during the ex, but my COC advised me not to so into my duffle they went, and when I got home, they were put away since I didn’t have a 20” barrel until now. I almost forgot about them and was thinking about buying a set when I remembered I had one buried somewhere in my mountain of crap downstairs.

I also threw on my Bushnell 1-4x and as well as .....don’t laugh.....an airsoft TRIAD rail. It’s just for photos until Matt lets us know when we can buy the real deal. Matt, any ETAs on the TRIAD rails？

Interesting fact about these rails. I thought they were KAC, but they’re not. I looked it up and apparently these were subcontracted to P&S Products.

As for the vertical grip, I think I’ll order one from Cadex too. I love their products, and they can be pricey (bought one of their Strike Dual Chassis) but they make some good stuff.

As for glass, I really want an Elcan to practice with, but no way I can afford one now.

Oh look at that, interesting. I heard that DND wanted to get the KAC M5 RAS for us, but they were either too expensive or KAC was barely able to keep up with demand south of the border and was not able to fulfill the order.
