Ever buy dies for calibers that you don't own yet? I see some good bargains for dies on Amazon once and a while. Today was lee carbide 41Mag 3 die set for $24.

Yuup- RCBS 6.5 Jap. long time ago. Rifle never happened for me. Going to sell them a long with a lot of other stuff I do not use or have duplicates of. Time in my life to downsize.

I have a bunch of dies for the future, same with bullet molds. I've learned the hard way about selling those thinking you won't need them again. Most gun shows I can sniff out a steel mold or die set for $25 that I don't have yet, they're starting to accumulate :)

Yeah, I bought 500 S&W dies recently from the EE. Gonna get the brass and projectiles too.

Before I get the revolver, I wanna be ready to shoot it. Big $$ to buy factory ammo for the 500.

I occasionally end up with dies that I don't have guns for for several reasons.
Planning for the future sometimes, package deals, case forming intermediate steps.... Or just cuz the price is right - there's lots of ways it happens.

I did the opposite and regret it, it was almost 4 months from the time I bought the revolvers to the time I got to shoot it for the first time.

That being said, the only set of dies I own that I don't have a gun for is 223 Remington... and I do have an AR receiver and am on the lookout for the rest of the pieces.

bought a set of 338 lapua dies but not sure I will ever use them

getting a barrel and factory ammo and when it is gone I may just sell the rifle as not

sure I want to reload that one

I've got a bunch of dies I might never own rifles for, but just in case... .500 Nitro, .416 Rigby, .350 Rigby, 7x65R, .338 WM ( had one, sold it), plus I sold some dies I wish I had back, like 9.3x57 and 6.5x53R.

Yeah, I saw you were looking for 500 brass.

I will admit to doing that!

30/40 Krag dies came up and so I nabbed them - just because I knew (maybe more hoped) that at some point I would find a rifle.

May have been a good omen as a carbine (sporter) came along a couple months later!
