Never seen the SL in person, but used to have the 226ST...I think the only difference I can tell is that SL doesn't have a rail... But (and I could and wrong!) but I think the SL is made entirely in Europe, where other Sigs availabe here have parts made and assembled in the US.
btw 226 ST has been discontinued so you would have to get an Elite model (it has a beavertail and a short reset trigger IIRC).
The SL is indeed different from the ST. Apart from being made in Germany, no rail, etc...... the SL has a trigger stop.
That's a problem with the new P220, not with stainless slides in general.Go to the Sig Forum and read up on stainless slides. There seems to be a problem. A percentage of them have extractor issues.
I think it's only a problem with very recent American-made P220 that have a new-style extractor (older American and German guns were fine), The P226 is not affected by this because it has a totally different extractor design.yes, i have read up on the p220 having the extractor issues. but is it just for the american versions or both. i can see the american (sigarms) version having a few problems. but is this the case with the german version? (all the stuff on sigforums is for the american sigs, as that is all they can get, any canadians with experience on this ?) and is it also a problem on the 226
Both American and German P226s have external extractors. I think you are confusing the p226 with the P220, which can have either an internal or external extractor (and this does not depend on the country of manufacture).thanks capp235 ,
any idea why the americans have an internal extractor and the german ones have an external one ? ( on the p226)
I have to take my words back. It seems that early W.German/German P226s indeed came with internal extractors. They also had stamped carbon steel slides. In recent years a number of those guns came into this country as CPOs (likely including the one that the salesman was showing you).oh i see, i was just at a local gunshop this weekend, and the guy was showing me a bunch of sigs and he was telling me about the all german version vs the one that was made in america and told me you can tell the difference ( while holding a 226 all german 9mm) from the extractor its external on this one but not on the american .. which confused me, because i thought myself what you said that the 220 has both. but im starting to think he was just trying to tell me anything. because nothing in my researching has said anything about an internal extractor for the 226 in the states.
does the 229 have an external ext. ? because the only models on the counter were a 229 and 226r(usa) and a 226 all german.
and i swear the 226r usa one he showed me had a internal ext. could have been the 229r though im not sure my heart was racing too fast with them puppies in my hand.
come to think of it , going into a gunshop is like going into a strip bar you get a warm feeling while your inside, but when you leave you forget everything except for one little peice you know your going to dream about all night.
All newer 226's have the external extractors. This has been the case since they switched to stainless one piece slides from the old stamped steel slides. The extractor "problem" is limited to the P220 "Carry model" which is a compact version of the 220.
I have not seen one of the SL versions being sold here and at the price being asked I doubt that I will any time soon.
