Is there any difference between say a 60's Ruger 10/22 and a late 10/22? Insomuchas quality and accuracy are concerned? I have found that people seem to be asking a lot more money for the older ones....

Is there any great difference between the old and the new? I have seen a premium between two more or less identical (except for age) and there is almost $200 difference... (the older higher)

It sure sounds like there is. I have a twenty year old stainless 10/22 and it has never misfired, misfed or failed to extract. I use the mag it came with as well as high capacity butler creek and eagle mags. It is also a tack driver.I have seen several posts where buyers of new ones are having problems. My 2 cents.

I agree with maddog, I owned one 25 years ago and not a damn problem. Just bought a semi new one off a member and what a friggin headache. I will not give up though, (dumb ass) I will purchase a stainless steel mode. 10/22 is the crack of rimfire.

Thanks... I will keep that in mind when I purchase in the future. At this point the subject is moot as I just picked up a near new Brno 581. Can't wait to shoot it.
