My question:
Will 8mm Gasser ammo. shoot from a M1898 French Lebel revolver that requires 8mm French Lebel ammo?

The specs are as follows:

1. 8mm Gasser:
Nominal Size: 8x26mm
Actual Size: 8.13x26.34mm
Case Type: Straight

2. 8mm Lebel Revolver:
Nominal Size: 8x27mm
Actual Size: 8.2x27.18mm
Case Type: Straight

Looks to me like it should work. Can't find the case length for the Gasser but according to your figures it will chamber. Apparently the gasser bullet is .010" smaller in diam so may not be very accurate but If you have some I would say go ahead and try them. COTW book says that 32 SandW might also work but cases may split and accuracy may well be poor.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

I posted the same question on gunboards.com awhile back, and was advised against it, as the 8mm Lebel case is larger and has more taper and thicker rims. I never tried it, prefering to err on the side of caution. Still looking for some 8mm Lebel - anyone wants to trade a box of Fiocci 8mm Gasser for a box of 8mm Lebel, PM me. I've got 4 and frankly my Rast-Gasser isn't that good a shooter.

If you reload you can buy 8mm lebel revolver brass and bullets from tallmanindustries. ca

Reasonable prices and it shoots well in my revolver.
