Difference between BCL BISON and MRA Renegade

As title says, what's the difference between these 2 rifles.
I understand. The MRA is a straight pull a d the BCL is a traditional bolt.
They seem to be at similar price points so just as a small rifle for the back of the ATV and varmint.
Does one have an advantage over the other.
I hear rumours of higher qualitycintr at BCL now.

The biggest advantage and attribute of the MRA Renegade is if you already have an AR or a bunch of AR parts and magazines you wish to recycle, you swap them off the AR receivers that are now paper weights, and assemble them onto the non-restricted, straight pull receivers of the MRA Renegade.

The sky is the limit with respect to availability, quality, and variety of AR parts, that you can build a rifle from a low end budget blaster to a match quality rifle and everything in between.


The Bison is a completed rifle, and while it benefits the user that it shares some parts commonality with ARs (handguard, grip and magazines), it really is a stand alone rifle, and one should be ditching the idea of using AR mags and sticking to the Bison proprietary magazine if you go this route.

Personally, I'd like to see a hybrid of the two - a Rifle that is essentially a bolt action receiver that uses all AR parts including the AR Barrel extension and AR bolt (or at least interfaces with the AR barrel extension).

The Renegade is more like a manual action AR15 and the Bison is more like a regular bolt action. The Renegade has a side mounted charging handle that can be either on the left or right side of the receiver. All fire controls are the same as an AR15.

One big consideration is the cartridge you want to use.
Straight pulls have zero primary extraction, and some cartridges are sticky as hell to extract.
From personal experience, 223, 300blk and 224 valkyrie feed and extract easily from straight pulls. 7.62x39 and 6.5 grendel are sticky as hell. Factory ammo, light loads, hot loads, I've tried more than one barrel, it doesn't matter. For those cartridges a Bison is the best route.

The biggest advantage to the MRA Renegade/Maverick is if you already have AR parts you want to recycle OR if you really like the look of the modern sporting rifle concept and want to be as true to it as possible.
