Beofre I buy the wrong thing I thought I would cal upon the collective wisdom here.

I am looking at a stock off of a Remington 700 SPS-DM long action.

Should I buy the ADL or the BDL stock and will it be a drop in fit or will I have to modify things?

Thanks All!

Andy

DM = detachable magazine

If your existing rifle has one fine.
BDL has a floorplate.
ADL has a blind magazine
Hope this helps.

BDL vs ADL vs DM

I assume you have a Remington long action 700 that you need a new stock for. We need to know what type of magazine your rifle has. Does it have a a blind magazine(ADL), a magazine with a hinged floor plate(BDL) or does it have a detachable magazine(DM). The stock you mentioned will fit a Rem 700 with a detachable magazine but will not fit an ADL or BDL rifle.

Hope this helps.

Oh, I screwed thing up there a bit. I must be lysdexic.

I have a 700 sps - DM, so I guess the bdl and adl stocks wont work for me. Can they be modified to work with a detachable mag? Or is it more trouble than it is worth?

Aftermarket stocks are so pricey!

BDL could be made to fit with a lot of work but probably not worth the trouble.

A BDL stock would only require the two slots for the magazine release buttons to be cut with a round file or a rotary tool...piece of cake for anyone with a modicum of mechanical aptitude....and a steady hand.
