My local shop doesn't have any M&P's except the regular version, so I'm curious about what extra features you get on the Pro versions and the VTAC versions? I mean, yea, I've seen the VTAC has a nice tan/sandy finish, but does it get an improved trigger? Trijicons or Mepro tritiums? Custom or different shaped iron sights, perhaps? Do either of them come in both 9mm and .40S&W? Manual safety catch?

Also, how do I tell which ones are the newer ones with the newly changed unlocking timing? Serial numbers?

Are the "range kit" versions older or newer units?

Pro's are custom shop guns and come with a Storm Lake Match barrel and a 'better' trigger.

They hand be had with or without manual safety and in .40 or 9

Not sure on the VTAC options.

Vtac comes in 9mm and .40 cal with Vtac sights. They're fibre optic/tritium combo sights.
I don't remember if any internals are different from a standard m&p or what the safety options are, if any at all.

from what i recall the VTAC just had the viking sites with the dark earth coloring.

ive got a smattering of M&Ps from over the last couple years and i must be honest, i really dont see any difference between them.
not counting the 22 (cause its made in germany)
the 9 range kit from 2 years ago.
the 40 range kit from last year.
the 45 from 3 years ago.
and the 9 5" PRO CORE from this years run.
i really cant see any difference between them, other then the 45 having a lot heavier trigger.

they all feel the same, the triggers all feel the same.
but that just my untrained lay person feel for them.

and i like them.
a lot.

Kevin when did they start coming with Storm Lake Match Grade barrels? Interesting if they do. I have a 2001 made 9MM and a 2012 .40 cal. The 9mm unfortunately has the slower 1 - 18 twist and it won't shoot 147 gr bullets worth a hoot. Very accurate though with the 124's.

Take Care

I'm not sure -- my guess is that that was from a year or so ago.
I never thought to ask the Smith guy when that started when I was talking to them at a LE venue two weeks ago.
It's came up as a LEO there had just bought a SL barrel - for his Pro and the Smith LE guy was like dude, duplicate efforts.
